The Punjabi style mathri is spiced with Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves), black peppercorn and ajwain (carom seeds). These are specially made at Punjabi weddings and are given to friends and relatives with other sweetmeats as a wedding favor. They keep really well, for up to a month (keep GF mathris for not more than 2 weeks), and taste fabulous with pickle or mango chutney or just a hot cup of tea.
